CAT Eligibility 2024 Check Criteria and Qualification
Applicant appearing for the final yr. of Bachelor’s degree equivalent qualification CAT Entrance examination and those who have complete degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. However, it can be noted that if such students choose, they will be allowed to attend the program provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their College or University/Institution [issue the date as stipulate by the respective IIM] stating that they have complete all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.
Applicant applying for CAT 2024 Eligibility Check Criteria and Qualification should fulfill any one of the following conditions:
- Complete Bachelor’s degree with the require percentage of marks*
- Complete professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA) with require percentage*.
- Should be in the final year of Bachelor’s degree with require percentage*.
The percentage of marks obtained by the student would be calculated based on the practice as followed by the respective University/Institution. In case of grades/CGPA. The conversion to Percentage of Marks Obtained would be base on the procedure as certified by the respective University/Institution. Any College/Institution or University confirms that there is no scheme for converting Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be establish by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA, and multiing the result with 100.
IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provide at the website www.iimcat.ac.in. Students should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by IIMs. Applicant must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.
CAT Eligibility 2024 Check Criteria and Qualification Reservation Criteria
As per the legal requirements,
- 15% of the seats are reserve for Schedule Caste (SC)
- 7.5% for Schedule Trib,e (ST) applicant.
- 27% seats reserve for OBC Other Backward Classes applicant belonging to the “non-creamy” layer (NC-OBC).
For the purpose of being consider for reservations, the applicable Central Govt. list as on the last date of CAT registration shall be binding. As per the provisions of The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act 2016), 5% seats are reserve for PwD.
“A person with a benchmark disability means “a person who does not have less than forty percent (40%) of a specif disability. Where specif disability not define in measurable terms and includes a person with disability where specif disability define in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority. “Specified Disability “means the disability referred to in the schedule of Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016”.
CAT Eligibility 2024 Check Criteria and Qualification for categories of disability are:
- Blindness and low vision
- Deaf and hard of hearing
- Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy.
- Intellectual Disability, Autism, Specific learning disabilities and mental illness
- Many disabled persons clauses [a] to [d]
- Other ‘specifies disabilities’ mention in ‘The Schedule’ of the RPwD Act 2016
The applicant belonging to the reserve categories need to note the eligibility requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted that while it is the endeavor of IIMs that the applicant belonging to SC/ST/PwD/NC-OBC categories join. The Programme in proportions mandate by the law they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria. And a certain minimum level of performance to be consider for the admission process.
The applicant should read the updated description of selection process follow by each IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category will be entertain after CAT registration. Hence, the applicants are advise to give attention while registering.
CAT Eligibility 2024 Check Criteria and Qualification Additional Information for SC, ST, NC-OBC, and PwD Applicant
If a candidate belongs to SC or ST categories, respective caste/tribe must be list in the Government of India schedule. The caste certificate that the candidate submits to IIM should be in the Government approve format and should clearly state:
- (a) Name of the caste/tribe
- (b) Whether the candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribes
- (c) District and State or Union Territory of the candidate’s nomination
- (d) the appropriate Govt. of India schedule under which candidate’s caste/tribe is approve by it as Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe.
A copy of the SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD certificate(s) must be upload at the time of CAT Application registration.
Notice: Failure to upload a copy of the class or caste certificate will result in the rejection of your CAT registration.
The SC/ST/NC-OBC/PwD certificate(s) must be shown and a photocopy should be submit at the time of interviews. Moreover, the certificate(s) must be submit at the time of joining the programmes of any of the IIMs.
